Chandeliers should not be hanged too high. Bear in mind that you are using chandeliers to light up the room itself and not the roof area.

Similarly, the paintings and other wall mounted artwork should also be hanged at appropriate height. Ideally, these should be hanged at a height between 4.5 to 5.5 feet to match the eye level of an adult of average height.

Consider color scheme of your furniture before selecting the paint. Generally it is easier to find the paint appropriate to the furniture color that the furniture itself matching the room’s color scheme.

Curtains should not ne short. The length of curtains should be such that they should always touch the floor. Short curtains hanging in the middle of the wall can just ruin the look of the wall.

Do not compromise your comfort over the decorating style. All the decorating tips used should also help creating a comfortable living for you rather than just giving a stylish look.

Do not use only overhead lighting. Use a blend of table lamps, floor lamps.

In case of sitting room and family room, the sofas, chairs and other similar furniture should be placed in such a manner to facilitate family discussions and meetings. However, this will reveal the back of your furniture, therefore make sure that the back of such furniture is also finished and polished.
